The story of the crime spree of serial killer Bruce Henderson Shreeves and the long first day of his trail of burglaries, kidnapping, armed robbery and shooting at two law officers, and fleeing for the Washington area to take five lives.

THE BAD LUCK BANDIT & THE SHRIMP EXPRESS – Cornelius Larry Chase was caught red-handed robbing a convenience store and locking two clerks in a walk-in refrigerator. Timothy Ridgell was operating his big rig full of shrimp in a reckless manner and was found to have drugs in his truck cab. Maryland Trooper Craig Tyer was the arresting officer in both of these crime stories in Maryland.

THE STORY OF THE MAN WHO RAN FROM THE COPS, TOSSED COCAINE FROM HIS CAR, AND JUMPED FROM THE TOP OF THE SOLOMON’S BRIDGE TO EVADE CAPTURE –
Timothy Hoofnagle lived to die another day.
Covering the police beat for my newspaper involved actively responding to crime scenes of burglaries, assaults, murders, and the never-ever routine traffic stop. One of the Law Officers assigned to the area was Maryland State Trooper Joe Appleby, as seen in these photos with suspects and people under arrest for DWI and various other crimes.

LEXINGTON PARK, MD. — Ernesto Javier Viado attempted to murder St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Deputy Darryl Greb on January 18, 1995. Deputy Greb was working the midnight shift in the sometimes-dangerous town of Lexington Park, Md., about three blocks from the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The base is the premier testing location for the Navy as well as the site of the NAVAIR Command headquarters.

THE LAW OFFICERS Deputy First Class Earl Keith Fretwell had a blue flame once on patrol in Lexington Park, Maryland, after graduating from the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy and becoming a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department Deputy. First of a series of law officers in St. Mary’s County, both deputies and Maryland Troopers.
