From Cruise Critic:

— Passengers sailing in Celebrity Cruises’ AquaClass cabins will no longer receive free daily bottled water, starting immediately.

In a statement, the line said that passengers in AquaClass, along with those in Sky and Celebrity suites, will receive two free 9 oz. bottles of water upon embarkation. Previously, people traveling in Aqua, designed as a “spa class” of sorts, had daily bottled water.

The change has sparked an extensive thread on the Cruise Critic forums. “No water….Why again are they calling this AquaClass?” asked Gracie115. “We have 2 upcoming cruises on Celebrity in AquaClass and the bottled water, while not important to some, is important to us….When I booked both of these cruises, over a year ago, bottled water was one of my benefits. Now it’s not. It doesn’t feel good to have something taken away that you enjoy.”

“What’s the big deal?” countered QuakerBoy. “Almost everyone in AQ has a beverage package perk. Just pick up a bottle at any bar on the way back to the room.”

While QuakerBoy might have a point, beverage packages aren’t available on transatlantic or transpacific sailings.

"de Plane, de Plane" hollers Tattoo. Pool fun on the Celebrity Eclipse from folks who may not care about the bottled water not being provided as part of the upgraded Aqua class suites. One has to wonder about what kind of numbskull working as a Celebrity executive dreamed up this idea to reduce overhead via the elimination of two bottles of water per day for passengers already paying a cabin upgrade. Maybe that bozo formerly worked for Carnival and was in charge of keeping engines from catching fire. THE PRIVATEER CLAUSE photo

Political tilt by Royal Caribbean?

Customer ticked off by cutting out extra water glasses, pen and paper and FOX NEWS!

From Cruise Critic member reviewing the Independence of The Seas:

“These cutbacks are annoying us enough to book with other cruise lines”

Sail Date: December 2013
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Our Waiter, Assistant Waiter and Cabin steward all left an unfortunate first impression, but all three managed to turn it around and now we consider them one of the best team we’ve had.

Embarkation – Considering the size of Port Everglades Cruise Port, our embarkation went reasonably smooth.

Room – JS 9234 – Nice big room! Another cutback, no pen and paper. Royal Caribbean is definitely moving to a more paperless method, but we were still buried under spa, shop and drink ad leaflets. I requested a Tempurpedic pillow via a travel agent and again on board, and was told it wasn’t available to Junior Suites. Liked the wider bed. I’m happy all information was on the interactive television. Another annoying cutback, only two glasses in the stateroom instead of four, when we’re used to getting one for drinking beverages and one for our Metamucil. Unfortunately, no more Fox News station on television.

Shops on Board – Needed a battery for my More
