Country Classics

Country music is alive and well at many venues around the USA including Branson, Missouri.

Who would expect a giant ship run aground on a hilltop in Branson, Missouri, at least 1500 miles from the nearest ocean?  A visitor to Branson learns to expect the unexpected with more than fifty shows ranging from acrobats, country music legends, and Dolly Parton’s Stampede.

Traveling to faraway places to talk about the Titanic, Piracy and maritime history is great fun and in the process, I get to meet a lot of interesting people.

At Branson, Missouri and Pigeon Forge Tennesee, both which are venues for the impressive Titanic museums, going to see country shows, acrobats, singing tenors, tribute shows and live appearances of fantastic legends of music is an incredible experience.  After talking to hundreds of visitors to the Titanic museums, learning about their personal connections to the Titanic and how the history of that one voyage brought so many of these folks to have a greater appreciation of learning about history makes me believe that there is a thirst for learning about sea stories that may not be met in many schools.

My friend the very talented actor and adventurer Lowell Lytle plays the part of Captain E. J. Smith at the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  In this video, Lowell tells the story of Rev. Harper.  Lowell is one of a very few people who has ever been down into the deep recesses of the sea to the deck of the Titanic. It has been an incredible journey for me, to have traveled from reading Walter Lord’s book ‘A Night to Remember’ in eighth grade to meeting and joining so many accomplished Titanic authors in the Titanic Speakers Bureau, such as Lee Merideth, Daniel Allen Butler, Bruce M. Caplan, Kryilla Sculley, Wade Sisson, Penelope Carlevato and Lowell, who wrote about his adventure to the lost ship and his adventures in life. DIVING TO THE DEEP

A real privilege has been to get to know my dear pal Helen Benziger, the great-granddaughter of the infamous Unsinkable Molly Brown, who is also in our Titanic Speakers Bureau.

Reverand John Harper gave his lifevest to another person, helped several others into lifeboats, and then worked to save the souls of people who were in the freezing 28 degree cold water with him. Harper did not survive, but this courageous true story of John Harper can change your life forever. Lowell Lytle performs this talk all over the world at Titanic exhibitions and museums, churches, civic organizations, groups and cruise ship talks. It is a truly inspiring story about John Harper performed by an amazing actor, Lowell Lytle.

The Titanic Museum posted this video of Mrs. Stewart playing “Nearer My God To Thee” at the Branson Titanic! She is a music teacher from Haviland, Kansas. The famous hymn was one of the tunes played by the Titanic band as the ship slowly sank into the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912.
